I know from talking to displaced people in the UK that you do not always feel welcome, and I am ashamed. The ancient Greeks welcomed strangers into their homes, in the same way that friends and family were offered food and shelter – and many in modern Greece have continued with this philosophy. I wish to extend a hand of friendship to you all, and to reassure you that you are not alone.
